Ed Bain’s Track Specific Trainer-Jockey Exacta Report is separated by Surface (dirt, turf, all weather) and by Sprint 7 furlongs and under and Route 7.5 furlongs or more. The statistics begin 1/1/2014 and run through including 12/31/2022 and are on win/place, exacta percentages. Each report lists Track, Trainer’s Name, Jockey’s Name, the number of tries, the number of win/place hits and
Yellow/Bold highlighted T/J are T/J combinations that have a minimum of 4 WINS and a WIN rate of 30% or better, AND have a WIN/PLACE rate of BETTER than 50%, AND have been PROFITABLE in BOTH WIN and PLACE betting.
Yellow highlighted T/J are T/J combinations that have a Win rate of at least 30% AND a Win/Place rate of BETTER than 50%
AND either:
1) 4 wins or more
or
2) at least 3 wins with at least 1 second place (in other words, at least 4 W/P with at least 3 wins)
There are several interesting finds
Almost all trainers have a handful of go-to jockey’s that they switch to when they believe their horse is ready to win and surprisingly a lot of these jockeys are not high profile.
The second interesting find is just because a trainer employs a high profile jockey does not necessarily mean they win and A large number of tries with little or no placings can aid in eliminating potential bets that may otherwise have looked promising.
